Fusion Monitoring IT Requirements

Connecting your factory machines to Fusion Monitoring is very straightforward. To ensure maximum success and speed of your installation, we generally require some IT information upfront. The guide below outlines the possible networking states of your facility and the best way to proceed.

General Best Practices

If we will be accessing your equipment over a wireless network, we will require an SSID and password that will allow us to see the equipment and get out to our cloud service. This can be a separate SSID from your standard factory floor network, if required. We will provide ports that need to be opened in the firewall as well as ports that need to be accessible on the local network for data access.

Our data collection devices are small form factor computers that generally reside in your datacenter. We recommend creating a VLAN on your switch infrastructure such that our data collection devices are segmented with the equipment being monitored.

Factory machines are already on your network using the Ethernet port

All that we require is a list of machine assets to connect to and their IP addresses.

We also will require:
* A small block of 10 static IP addresses for our data collection devices
* The netmask and default gateway of the network we’ll be on

Factory machines are not networked

We will require 2 static IP addresses per machine to be connected – one for the machine itself, and one for a WiFi bridge device per machine.

We also will require:
* A small block of 10 static IP addresses for our data collection devices
* The netmask and default gateway of the network we’ll be on

Factory machines are already on your network using the RS-232 port

Depending on the machine type, this could work as-is. That is usually true for Haas machines, for example. Otherwise, see “Factory machines are not networked”.

IT Site Survey

If you are ready to go, please request an IT Site Survey from the representative you are working with. This is an efficient way to gather all necessary info and get you on the road to Fusion.
