He spoke with Jesse Bunnell Plant Operations Manager, who talked about how EPTAM leverages Datanomix to achieve their production goals, including profitability targets. The software can show when a job in process will be done and the projected profitability. If the job is off target, the team can intervene to get it back on track.

Visibility into the Present & Past

EPTAM Precision Plastics relies on the data from Datanomix to not only help people make decisions in real-time, but also dig into issues and uncover the root cause of the problem. For example, when they are qualifying parts and see an anomaly in the metrology side, they can look at what was happening on the machine before, during and after the parts were made. If they see the machine was idle for an extended period of time prior to production, the team knows that they need to make sure the machine is properly warmed up.

Boosting OEE In Spite of Labor Challenges

Datanomix has helped EPTAM grow in OEE from about 35% to around 60% in a 12-month period. They are still pushing to go higher, but difficulty in fully staffing second and third shifts makes it challenging to fully optimize machine utilization. The chronic labor shortage has led EPTAM to invest in robotics, where Datanomix also brings huge value. The software highlights when, and why a robot stops working which enables the team to quickly respond. EPTAM can also maximize the uptime of robots by using Datanomix to test different processes to see which one performs the best.
