Margin Master
Part-Level Profitability for Every Job You’ve Ever Run
Margin Master is the job profitability engine inside Datanomix ERP Insights. Quoted cycle and setup times meet real machine performance — so you know which jobs make money, which ones don’t, and which ones could be doing more.
Quote More Accurately
A lot of effort goes into the quoting process to make sure that all costs are accounted for and a reasonable margin is added as profit. For many precision manufacturers, accurately quoting jobs can be challenging because they don’t know all their costs until after the job is run. That’s because the time it takes to make each part can vary—even on highly automated machines.
To compensate, a “fudge factor” is added to a best guestimate which is based on historical data or tribal knowledge. This estimate is then added to the ERP to generate the quote, but we all know the information in the ERP are estimates. Manufacturers don’t know how much (or even if) they made money until after the part ships. That’s a tough way to run a business.
Margin Master Shows You:
- Winners
Part numbers that beat your back office targets, and make more profit than anticipated - Losers
Part numbers that did not beat your targets - Winners with Upside
Part numbers that are beating your targets but could be making more money - Losers that Could be Winners
Part numbers that Datanomix has seen you run well enough to make it a winner
“I can see right in Datanomix if I’m running profitable jobs, and I have the feedback in ProShop when I go to quote the same job again or if I’m working on a similar part. This puts me in the driver’s seat in controlling my job performance and profitability.“

Connect ERP plans to real production data
Margin Master uses our Universal ERP Connector to pull in part numbers, job standards, due dates, and quantities from your ERP to benchmark with real-time machine performance in Datanomix. It’s just one of the three connected capabilities that bridge the gap between planning and production.
Compare quoted vs. actual performance
Quoted cycle times and setup times are compared to actual machine behavior. Variances are easy to spot, with simple grading that highlights which jobs are on track and which need attention.
Focus on what drives margin
See which jobs are quoted accurately, which consistently outperform expectations, and which ones quietly erode profit and should be reviewed.
Track delivery progress in real time
Due dates and part goals flow into Delivery Track so you can see whether jobs are on pace, at risk, or falling behind based on real shop floor activity
“Connect us up to your machines, let our software do its magic, and it will come up with performance standards and actuals on its own. Hook us into your ERP instance, and you’ll get automated analysis on exactly which part numbers you need to be focused on from a job costing and margin improvement standpoint.”
